Scandia Valley Township is a small rural community located in the Northwest corner of Morrison County, Minnesota, roughly 20 miles northwest of Little Falls. The area was first settled in 1893, and Scandia Valley was officially organized as a township by the Morrison County Board of Commissioners in 1893.

Our residents enjoy the benefits of a rural lifestyle within the beautiful Lincoln Lakes Area. Larger area lakes include Lake Alexander, Lake Shamineau, and Fish Trap Lake. Area activities include fishing, hunting, camping, dining, antiques, resorts, crafts, golfing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling with direct access to the Minnesota Trail System.

Filings open for candidates Tuesday, July 30, 2024 and close at 5:00 p.m. on the last day of filing, Tuesday, August 13, 2024. The voters will elect one (1) Supervisor “C” for a term of four (4) years, one (1) Supervisor “D” for a term of four (4) years, one (1) Supervisor “E” for a term of four (4) years, and one (1) Clerk for a term of four (4) years. Filing fee is $2.00. Please file with the town clerk at 3049 320th Street, Cushing, MN. Contact the clerk at 218-575-2847 to file.

The regular monthly Township Meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 14 at 7:00 p.m. due to the Primary Election on Tuesday, August 13. The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Full-Time Position

The township will be accepting applications for two full-time positions. Duties will include equipment operation, mechanical repair work, 24/7 availability in the event of emergencies, and public interaction.

These positions require a self-motivated individual who is able to work on his or her own without constant supervision. Good people skills are necessary for the daily interaction with township residents. Applicants must be able to be available in the event of storms for debris cleanup and/or snow removal. Heavy equipment operating experience and snow plowing experience would be a plus.

Job requirements: Class B motor vehicle license with air brake endorsement. Enrollment in Scandia Valley Volunteer Fire Department is suggested.

Scheduled Meetings

Town Board Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the Scandia Valley Town Hall at 7:00 p.m. Special meetings may be scheduled as needed and will be posted at the Town Hall and on this website. The annual meeting is the second Tuesday of March, which changes the date of the March regular meeting.
